Tour Itinerary

 DAY 01 : Cochin

Welcomed by Travel XS representative at Cochin airport and transfer to your hotel. Kochi, as it is called now, offers you the best of history and culture anywhere in the state. A port town since early centuries Cochin attracted traders and invaders from the world over. One can see snippets of the different eras and influences in the many attractions in Cochin.

SUNSET CRUISE (optional): Today evening you can go for a relaxing sunset cruise, finishing with a panoramic sunset from the harbour mouth. Overnight at the Eighth Bastion.


DAY 02 : Cochin

Today you can go for a sightseeing tour to explore the many fascinating highlights of Cochin which include - The Jewish Synagogue in what is locally called the Jew Town, St. Francis Church which is the oldest European Church in India, the Santa Cruz Basilica built in 1557 by the Portuguese, the Dutch Palace, the Spice market and the 15th century Chinese fishing nets believed to have been brought by Chinese traders.

KATHAKALI (optional: In the evening, visit an auditorium to watch the famous dance drama of Kerala, the Kathakali. This dance is characterised by some great story telling, amazing costumes and extensive make-up. Overnight at the Eighth Bastion.


DAY 03 : Cochin to Alleppey (Houseboat) (65 Km / 1 ½ h)

Drive to Alleppey. The House Boat or Kettuvallam cruise commences either from the Spice Coast boat landing or Coconut Lagoon.

The cruise takes you across lake Vembanad, through narrow canals heading South passing low lying rice fields, churches temples, schools and a complete life style in a water world. Stop to buy fish or tender coconut, enjoy delicious food of the boat men or just relax and enjoy the beauty. Boat anchors at sunset to prevent getting entangled in the fish nets. It’s also a magic moment, rocking gently counting stars and finally to bed in the middle of no-where.

DAY 04 : Alleppey (Houseboat) to Periyar (145 Km / 4 h)

Disembark from your houseboat and drive to Periyar, an area known for its undulating hills, spice plantations, and elephant sightings. One of the 27 tiger reserves in India, the Periyar valley in Thekkady is the oldest. Check into your hotel.

INTRODUCTION TO SPICES :  You are in spice country and a great opportunity to get to know more about the spice you use daily in your kitchen. The resident naturalist will be happy to take you on a tour of the spice garden and show you around. Later that evening the Chef will demonstrate the art of using spices.

ECO ACTIVITIES : The team of resident naturalist's will take you on a tour of the amazing eco activities that happens at the Village - Recycling of water, solid waste management, solar energy and organic farming. You could also have a hands-on exposure on creating paper from waste.

DAY 05 : Periyar

3 HOURS TREKKING (optional) : Half day escorted trekking in Periyar. This is a conservation-oriented hard trek taking up half a day, starting at 8am and ending at 11m, covering 05 km. The route passes through undulating terrains. Altitudinal ranges of 900 meters to 1300 meters will be covered and trekkers obtain glimpses of the lofty escarpments bordering the park watershed and the vast plains down below. Gaur sloth bear, elephant etc. are often sighted along this route apart from birds and butterflies. The trekkers will go with an English speaking guide. Vegetarian refreshments can be had en route.

BOATING (optional) : Today you can enjoy the boat ride in Periyar Lake. Periyar Lake was formed by the construction of the dam across the Mullaperiyar River in 1895. There is a good chance of seeing any of the inhabitants of the reserve on the lake; especially on the morning and late afternoon cruises where animals head for the lake to drink.

DAY 06 : Periyar to Marari (175 Km / 4 h)

Drive to the picturesque fishermen’s village of Mararikulam and check into your resort. Tucked away inside quiet and lush coconut groves the resorts set by the pristine white sand beaches of the Marari offer you unparalleled quite in astoundingly beautiful settings. Day is leisure on the beach resort.


INTERACTIVE COOKING : Every evening at 06:30 PM along with the Chef.

DAY 07 : Marari

Day at leisure to explore the area on your own.

YOGA  : Every morning at 07:15 AM.

AYURVEDA LECTURE : Every morning at 09:30 AM by the resident Ayurveda Physician.


DAY 08 : Marari to Cochin Airport 95 Km / 2 ½ h)

Departure transfer to Cochin airport for onward flight.
